Buttery Brown Bourbon is a tribute to the pursuit of the buttery Brown Trout and Bourbon, the brown buttery liquid. This limited release is a collaboration with Chris J Hanson and World Whiskey Society. It's a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Bardstown, KY that has been carefully aged and bottled at WWS. Our goal with this bourbon was to bottle up a classic Kentucky Bourbon, an "easy pour" if you will, and one that could be enjoyed by someone that prefers it over ice or in a cocktail and yes of course, enjoyed neat.
When it comes to fly fishing, everyone has a reason as to why they fly fish. For some it can be as simple as they just enjoy fly fishing and how relaxing it is. For others, it can be much more complicated. For Hanson, it is much more complicated. He was at a crossroads after he went through a scary episode of Transient Global Amnesia where he lost his memory. It was triggered by working too much, stress and migraines and he needed to slow down. He needed something that could get him away from work. Something that was relaxing. An experience where he would get lost in the day and forget about everything else. And that's where fly fishing came in. It was life changing. After watching his award winning documentary, The Day I Disremembered, you would probably say that fly fishing saved his life. A few years later, an idea for creating a bourbon that would pay tribute to fly fishing and brown trout started to take on form and today we have Buttery Brown Bourbon + World Whiskey Society.
